Statement Taker Training Materials
The volunteer training materials included in this section (see links at right) were used to train volunteers around the United States and in the U.K. to act as statement takers for the Liberia TRC Diaspora Project.  These materials incorporate many of the same thematic areas as the statement taker training that was conducted for TRC staff statement takers working in Liberia.  The trainings were adapted however to meet the needs of volunteers operating in the diaspora, many of whom were non-Liberian. The 9-hour training and 400 page training manual focused on four modules: Understanding the Liberian Conflict, Understanding the Liberian TRC, Understanding the Role of Statement Takers, and Underdtanding Liberian Statement Givers. The training program was conducted in 11 cities across the U.S. and in the U.K. and was adapted to the local context, drawing on local resources and trainers in each locale.
