Mirroring the TRC’s work in Liberia, The Advocates for Human Rights has a formal Memorandum of Understanding with the TRC to conduct statement taking from Liberians living throughout the Liberian Diaspora, including in Europe. European statement taking is centered in the United Kingdom. The U.K. partnership team, including the London office of Faegre & Benson, the London office of Mayer Brown, and the leadership of the Union of Liberian Organizations in the U.K. is working in collaboration with The Advocates to carry out this task. Volunteers in the U.K. will assist Liberians who voluntarily come forward to tell their stories to the TRC. Individuals who give statements will have access to counselors, immigration lawyers, and social service referrals. Information from interviews will be included in the TRC’s historical record.
